In a side by side taste test, my original line machine won every time. The newer pods just don't taste good, in my (and my uncle's) opinion. He returned his machine.
Whenever I recommend Nespresso machines to a friend, coworker, random soon-to-be-convert in my local B&M store, I always suggest they go with a machine that uses the original pods.
That said, in the last 15 years, I've gone through 2 machines. CitiZ was first. I believe it was roughly 8 years in when it died. Nespresso support is super helpful. After that, the Pixie was more appealing to me for it's minimal countertop footprint. It's been 5 years, and only just now have I had the first ever problem with it: random leaking from the bottom. Literally happened last night, so I have yet to call.
It still pours a great shot of espresso.
I like coffee....but not that crazy...
I get a good cup out of my cheapo insignia machine I got at target years ago for like 60 bucks with a frother machine..
