Interesting. I tried both of them this morning when I went to check out under promo codes and both gave me $10 off. I just checked and WOWFRESH didn't work (possibly because that was the one I used earlier), but DISCOVER worked just fine.

Honestly I don't know for sure. I heard that Canon ran into some chip supply problems so they had to open things up on the most recent models, but I don't know for sure. A lot of it depends on what you plan on using the printer for. I have a Brother Laser printer for most of my printing and will only be using this one for photo applications, so I may just compromise and get Canon ink, but buy off of ebay to save some.

It will not. I use non-genuine ink from Amazon without an issue.

I bought this printer - I couldn't get the codes to work (or any other of the dozen or so I found lol). But I needed a printer, this seemed like a decent price and so far so good! Thanks!

For under $150 this is as good as it gets for photo printing. Unlike most in it's price range it has 5 cartridges (2 Black Cartridges) vs the standard 4 for more accurate color reproduction based on application. Inkjets have an inherent advantage over photos, but the difference between this printer that I paid less than $140 for and my Brother HL-L3290CDW Laser Printer (around $400) is literally night and day for even small labels. Still prefer my Brother for everything else, but for photos/label printing the Canon will definitely be getting use.
