What's the point? for 100 bucks more I can walk in to any Micro Center and buy a 4080. They literally have half of their original opening day stock in most stores

Natively 4080 beats by20%, throw the DLSS 3 and frame gen in , no contest. Unless you need 24 gigs.

Terrible price for this card now, especially knowing the 7900XTX wipes the floor with it for $100 less.

more power efficient and is around 20-40% faster than a 3090ti. DSLL 3. so paying $1200 is a much better offer, but 4080 will soon come down in price. noone is buying them. microcenter had like 25 yesterday i went in the shelves. most people paying $1200 might aswell just get the 4090 for $1,600 and you get more value per perfomance from that. both are crazy expensive.

Yep, the Micro Center here in Denver, Colorado has dozens of Geforce 4080's for around $1200-$1300. All sold out on the 4090 though, I feel like most people that are going to spend $1200 for a video card don't mind spending a few extra hundred bucks to get the big bad 4090 monster so that's why there is plenty of stock for the 4080.

You guys speak as if any of these things are available.

Yeah, you might be able to get a 4080 at a microcenter if you live close to one, but it probably won't be the $1200 model. So 40% more performance for $200-400 more plus a several hours drive.

The 4090 hasn't been in stock for it's $1600 MSRP, and probably won't be for months if ever. So even if it was available, 70% more performance for $500 to 1000 more money.

The 7900 XT and XTX isn't even released for almost a month, and likely won't be obtainable for well into Q1 or Q2 of next year.

The real problem is that prices on gpus suck, and probably always will from now on. So get used to it. If you need a card get the best price when you can. You can sit around forever always waiting for the next greatest or best, and then it never comes, or is impossible to get when it is finally released.

FWIW the 24GB is very useful for ML and AI Art use cases. However the extra 100W draw is probably unnecessary for both, and the 3090 would be better.

I'd grab a regular 3090 if they sold the FE at a better price point.

Since the crypto scam/environmental nuke is in a downturn, waiting for new suckers, there may actually be widespread availability in not too long.

Looks like too much stock for high end 30xx cards. I still remember when 3080/3090 cards were getting being sold to bots and real people could not buy it and Nvidia decided to exclusively sell FE cards via BestBuy. Guess they are not able to move Nvidia cards anymore.
