have a number of these 6 panel kits.

under $20 when on sale they are basic light panels with a remote, not app controlled.

can be powered with usb port, a basic usb charger or power bank

they have several auto patterns or sound activation and can be dimmed.

you can connect up to two 6-panel kits together.

while the panels plug together with their usb connectors, they also have some little plastic tabs that are 'not all that' that are supposed to help hold the panels together.

so, what i did was get some velcro dots and 'velcro' the panels to a backboard. this way they are semi-permanent and can be hung like a picture frame. not taped/glued to a wall which can damage the paint/plaster if they need to be removed.

per c^3:

Type Price Date
Current $18.73 Nov 20, 2022
Highest * $64.99 Dec 01, 2021
Lowest * $18.73 Nov 20, 2022
Average + $40.64
Here's a nice review, in case you wanna see it in action...

The biggest issue with these is no memory. After the power cycle, they switch back to just white light. I have them connected to a smart plug to enable voice control, so this is a major issue.

Of course, it's much cheaper than other tiles, so can't complain.

Thanks for informative post; it's appreciated. I think I'll purchase 2 sets and try to use them as a cheap half ars audio visualizer for my entertainment setup. I heard from several reviews at Amazon that your desired calibrated settings do not save when the lights are powered off/unplugged though; perhaps I might need to leave the lights powered 24/7. Also, it may be very tempting to plug the USB power cord to the back of your TV but IMO that causes unneeded strain on the TVs power supply and can lead to failures/malfunctions. I think I ruined a TCL 43S515 by having a LED light strip attached to its USB port at least; the TV died less than a year with a falling t-con board (Timing Controller Board). About mounting the lights and damaging the walls; I'm planning on using 3M Command Strips [amazon.com]. These are pretty cheap and won't rip off paint and can be safely removed supposedly...

I have two sets of these and enjoy their larger size compared to white labeled options on amazon. These can be made "smart" with an esp/arduino and the FastLED library for those who like to tinker. I believe the SP110E controller will work with these as well but have not confirmed myself.
