Yeah I've been curious about getting the j8+ from Costco especially at this price. Currently testing out the s7 max ultra and it's pretty nice but the mop doesn't raise high enough for my carpets so I still have to take it off to vacuum also wish it detected cables better it kinda just runs them over unless they're all bundled.

Was curious about the irobot because carpet cleaning performance and price.

Would it be a waste of time to even try the j8+ out?

The J7 without self empty dock version had drop price to $349 weeks ago, and Amex had buy $500 get $100 credit reward. So I buy one with $125 iRobot gift card. I had saw accessories half price on iRobot website, but I miss it

When people say S7, do they mean any variation in that line, or only the Max Ultra, which is the most expensive product in that line?

Is this a better deal compared to the Roomba i7+ on eBay for $329 with 2 years of All State warranty? That one is refurbished but also $200+ cheaper with a year of additional warranty.

Really depends if you need the obstacle avoidance. If your house is clean/no stuff on the floor, no kids, pets toys etc, then the j7/8+ might be overkill, but it's a lot smarter/better at not getting stuck.

If its the same as the J7, why's it worth an extra $250 just for the self emptying base? you can get the J7 for $350 right now at most retailers.

Agree, If you buy Irobot, only buy from Costco, so you can return it if needed

(The Last 4 Roombas I bought were returned to Costco for defects within months)

The self cleaning base has the cool factor and you almost never have to change it

However, that my be a problem from some, as your nasty floor bits stay in the bag for a very long time

You can also not run the Robot at night with the base (due to the base sounding like a jet aircraft taking off) unless you pull the bag, and pulling to bag stops the Robot from automatically running on schedule.

Long post to say, for many you are correct, the J7 without the base makes sense.

Same! I have the ecovac T8 which is fine but roborock are much better. I just received the S7 Max V without the delft empty dock and love it!
