It's easy to see, the Basilisk has more RGB lights on it. Setting those to 100% brightness will only get you 8 hours of runtime. Razer claims 20 hours with RGB 100% and 100 hours with RGB off, but It has never held 20 hours. As an anecdotal point. The Basilisk was my first purchase and since I could NOT make it through an entire work day and gaming session, I often played through the low battery warning. This abuse only took 4-5 months before killing my battery. Sure, user error, but not being able to make it an entire day is unacceptable. Now I need a new battery as I only get 10 hours with RGB at 20%
All that said, for whichever mouse you decide, set the RGB light level to 20% - I promise it's still bright enough and greatly increases battery life. So if you have gone through features and still can't decide let RGB be your deciding factor. If you want to use RGB, get the Viper. If you don't care for it and willing to turn it off, the Basilisk will last longer.

the battery life is great, response is quick and clean, preset button for dpi changes is easy to use and doesn't get hit accidentally. It's a great mouse, highly recommend.
