Ads: for a 25 minute show, 1 ad at beginning, 2 ad sections during.
15 seconds, pizza hut, gucci, hbo max ...
Some movies are ad free. 8 bit Christmas for example

Interesting. Two things to consider… If paying through Apple, there's some sort of glitch. It says "You're in a promotional period of $1.99 per month for 3 months." But also right under it, it says "Starting December 21, your plan will renew for the regular price of $9.99 per month until canceled."

I've read in the past that Apple has had a lot of trouble with promotional type deals with their payments. So there's a chance that the next month will charge you $9.99 instead. Fortunately I was able to contact Apple, and while they were unable to resolve the actual promotional issue (they suggested I contact HBO directly), I had them cancel the subscription and refund the $1.99. It would save the hassle if I was charged $9.99 next month. I figured creating a new account and subscribing through HBOMax directly would be less of a hassle.

And the other thing to consider is that 4K content is only through the $15.99 Ad-Free plan.

Can't stand ads, people buying into the ad-driven services are driving up the ad-free prices.

Also really pissed HBO Max doesn't allow you to block (or even dislike) any of the shows/movies, which is essential more forced manipulation and ads.

Unfortunately, cheapskate central is the last place we can discuss this lmao.

Was going to cancel HBO $15 plan for a few months but then this deal came around was going to give it a try so first tried to cancel my first account and then create a new account, but it offered me the same deal instead of canceling… that was easy

I got in on this deal but I'm going to cancel (just canceled). Not because ads, they are really limited in scope. The problem is streaming quality, all the content is really degraded (for example I tried watching Dune and gave up). I had HBO Max before this that didn't have ads and quality of stream is night and day. Any movies that have darker tones and a lot of gray are really bad. Before anyone says anything I have ATT Fiber and two late model LG OLED TV's. If you search online you will see content is downgraded when in ads subscription...

Quality so far has been good enough for me. I've watched White Lotus S2E1 and no ads. Watched Don't Worry Darling and that had no ads.

I finally got an ad for A Christmas Story Chrustmas and it was just a single ad at the beginning and no more for the rest of the film. Good movie btw.
