This is by far the best VR game available right now. Maybe Horizon will give it a run for it's money, but nothing else is in it's league IMO.

Gonna try this with my quest 2 - I'm not confident that my hobbled rx580 is up to the task, but will rely on steam's refund policy if it doesn't work out!

This game is amazing with an RTX 3080 and a wireless Quest 2. If I didn't have it already I wouldn't hesitate to get it at this price.

I don't use VR or even anything 3D related because I can't wear contacts and I can't see without my glasses. Is there a headset I can buy for this that allows me to wear glasses with it comfortably?

Thanks!

PS: Wireless preferably.
There aren't that many wireless options, and the ones that are there are either lower graphic quality or really expensive. You can get prescription lens adapter so you don't have to wear glasses.

In my experience, Virtual Desktop was worth every penny compared to AirLink. YMMV.
Yep. My boy got the Quest 2 last year and I got this for him. AirLink was buggy and a pain to deal with. I bought Virtual Desktop and it was like the heavens opened up. Definitely worth it.

I wear glasses with Quest 2, there's a spacer in the box specifically for that (though I got a silicone one on amazon for easier cleaning).

For what it's worth I have a 3600X with a RX580 and my boy plays with no issue.

Still one of my favorites almost 20 years later. Hope you enjoy
I played HL2 super late and I thoroughly enjoyed it, couldn't stop playing until I finished it, and I usually only play multiplayer games

This game really shows the promise of VR. Can't wait until more games of this caliber are developed. Quest 2 on Virtual Desktop is the way to experience this. My desktop is hardwired and I play in the same room as my WIFI6 Router. Be sure to say hello to Jeff when you meet him.

Oh, no question. I'm just saying I have a a backlog of PCVR that I could (or, if you ask my wife, should) play before buying yet another game. I'd probably get it if I were invested in the HL series, but I skipped that phase of gaming (left somewhere around doom/myst/WCIII and didn't pick it back up until Witcher III.

Quest 2 is still a fabulous option. If you buy a cheap ($30-40) dedicated wireless router as an access point and have a PC you can stream PCVR almost as perfectly as using a cable.

Pre-made lenses are around $50-70
https://widmovr.com/product/oculu...s-adapters
https://honsvr.com/product/oculus...ns-adapter

Or, if you have a friend with a 3D printer you can print a set of adapters
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3659124 uses magnets for quick-change (multiple people)
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3642004 is not a quick change, if you rarely/never have other users of your quest.
The Zenni glasses you need to purchase to fit these adapters are $10 (For standard diopter range), $15 with their AR coating, which I highly recommend.

Someone is als selling the Zenni adapters (w/o lenses) on Amazon for $15
https://www.amazon.com/Lens-Adapt...083JKRQ54/
But, honestly, if you're going to spend $15 on cheap 3d printed adapters and $15 on lenses, you may as well spring for the extra $20 and get a combined commercial lens set above.

I was curious & watched a play through. The game seems overrated for the gameplay; maybe the VR experience is so spectacular that it makes it more special than the what the gameplay seems to be.

It is anything but overrated. Initial levels might seem simple but they are cleverly teaching mechanics for people who've never used VR. It's one of the best game experiences that's out there. Counting non-vr games as well.
