I know the Gesture is widely loved, but I returned mine for an Embody. IMO, Gesture build quality does not feel like a $1K chair — and the arm rests do not lock. So, every time I sat in the chair, I had to readjust the arm rests. Drove me crazy. Definitely a YMMV type of thing, as most people may not notice or care.
Everybody is different in dimensions and preference. You have to go try them. Sorry it's not the answer you want, but it's the reality. You can go read a million reviews and then think it sucks or you might find one with worse reviews that works for you better. I've had both happen, so I won't make a recommendation other than to say, go visit the local dealer and spend 30 minutes in each chair, then pick.
It's very difficult to move the arms accidentally. No idea what you're on about.

I sit anywhere from 8 to 14 hours a day, because I work and game at my desk. I love the Embody, and I can't recommend it enough. If you have access to a Herman Miller showroom, it's definitely worth a trip to test it out.

I have remanufactued Steelcase Leap from Crandall and I think remanufactured from them is an even better deal than the returns.

I have a top of the line Haworth that has no arms and honestly it's the best thing ever. Arms really get in the way when you are sitting at your desk.

I got an embody the other day. I'm 6'6 340lbs. Very broad shoulders, large frame. I'm too big for the embody, I wanted to like it so much... the seat is a little too narrow and short for me and the armrests dig into my side a bit. Backrest is too short too. The struggle is real.
