This will not heat a room; only people directly in front of the heater.

1500 watts of electricity being used will always give off the same amount of btu's no matter what... It could be a heater a computer a refrigerator etc. 1 watt is equal to 3.412 Btu's per hour no matter what type of product is using the electricity.

Was it the same form factor? I've seen one at my store, it's a Dr. Heater brand and it's likes $160+

Small room with door closed at best. Youd have to stand in front of it to feel the heat. I dont think they're worth it. I had one for a few days before returning it.
Even at 1500 watts??

Yeah, I wasn't looking for a heater otherwise I would have take a picture of the price. It was instore. But I noticed the normal price was like $160ish and the sale price was around $60 or so. It was on a main aisle end stack.

It will heat a room that is not leaking like crazy given enough time. It is directional and ofc "inverse square" limited (the further away you are, will feel less effective, a lot less), but at the end of the day, a 1500W heater, is a 1500W heater.

Its infared heater not a space heater. Infrared will heat objects not air. So its pointless if youre trying to heat up a room youre in. Its only good if youre in direct line of the infrared heat.

I have the Dr heater version from Costco. They are $160 regular price. I use it for the outdoor patio table. I brought it inside one day and put it on it's lowest setting of 900W. After 20-30 minutes it already increased the room temp by 2 degrees. I have it facing the main wall and partially the couch. The wall gets warm and then radiants heat back out. If you have a well insulated room/house you can easily use this on low to heat up the room. Yes it does work better pointed at people but it gets too hot when indoors even on it's lowest setting. I turn it off and on when I need it. So far I've used it when it's down to 40⁰ outside and 68⁰ inside. Bring up the room to 71-72⁰ in less than an hour. So it will heat the room up just fine. maybe one day I'll see how warm it can make the living room.
As others have mentioned it's radiant heat not an air heater. So use it to heat a wall the same way the sun heats up the floor thru a window and you'll be fine. Not sure if it would work for you? Head to Costco and get one, test it out and then if need be return it.
