How's the cooling on this?

Ideally would be 100-200 cheaper for these specs compared to other recent Lenovo IdeaCentre Gaming 5i and Dell XPS 8950 deals

Doesn't matter, the 256GB ssd makes it a bad joke.

I have a 10700 version of this with a 3070 and it cools very well.

One complaint I have is that the cpu is about 15% slower than it should be due to limiting the PL1 and PL2. When you return those to Intel standards it is still about 5% below on benchmarks. Not a big tweaker so not sure if the difference can be fixed.

Also, my power supply is 650 gold but unfortunately only came with one pcie cable for video so the highest card I can run is the 3070fe.

I added this mainly because I kept seeing people comment about no DDR5 in similar 3060 deals and some of the iBuyPower units coming with faulty GPUs or SATA SSD's. The 256gb SSD on this can be changed out rather easily with some of the good deals going on right now. Smoking deal? No. But I've never had an issue with my Lenovo's.

Interesting. Lenovo does the same on their IdeaCentre Gaming 5i, which I posted about in other threads. The same i7-12700 is limited to PL1 55W and PL2 187W (vs 65W and 200W per Intel). Even when maxed out it still could not reach standard benchmarks for that CPU, so I returned it. Lenovo has some limiting to keep the temperature max 90C (vs 100C per Intel). I think that might be why the CPUs don't reach their full potential.

Either way, I thought Lenovo might loosen up their restriction for the true "Legion" line equivalent, but I guess they carry the same strategy across their lineup.

Ok I stand corrected, if you look at the service manual this thing has a tower cooler and is higher grade than either the xps or ideacentre, has gaming pc worth of fans and actual expansion, 4 ram slots vs 2, pci-e 4x vs 1, ddr5 vs 4 mulitple m.2/sata, and more better usb, igp included as video coprocessor. The idea center sff is for if you never plan to change a thing ever. Trying to fix the inadequacies of the iceacenter will easily make up the cost difference.

The bad storage is easily corrected, the rest not so much. This is a decent deal if you aren't a heavy gamer.

The cooling on the ideacenter is much worse.

What does 'up to 1TB' in Strorage support tab?

I'm already using 2TB ssd Samsung evo plus Samsung in my other pc, and I will transplant it to this one. Is this limited to do this?

Honesty, I'm torn now. I found a competing option that I'm stuck on. It's a Lenovo Legion 7i with a 3070, 4 fans plus liquid 240mm AIO for $1148, however it's got 11th gen 11700 with ddr4. So its this at $1000 with more future proof 12th gen and DDR5 with 3060, weaker cooling, and less expandable tower vs 7i at $1148 with 3070 with 6 fans (2 are AIO) and a more expandable tower with 11th gen i7 and DDR4. It'll be more of a multipurpose tower for streaming, light/mid gaming @1440p (World of Tanks, World of Warships, SRPG/RPG, dungeon crawlers), MS Office, work through VPN work server, web browsing. 1440p gaming while streaming movies/tv is the most demanding tasks it will handle.

That's a tough one, depends how quickly you think amds gpu chiplets will drive prices down.

Lenovo has a habit of under listing its specs, the ideacenter was listed as max 32GB when it can do 64
