Seems as though someone has anger issues playing games, or you don't know how to simply hold the kishi with a phone attached in it. I have had mines for over a year now and it works perfectly fine. Please note that some phone + cases may or may not fit. The common method of solving this issue without removing the phone case is to remove the rubber inserts within the kishi. Also the original creators of this device, Gamevice, have created a new version of this unit, the Gamevice flex.

Nope. You'll want the Kishi V2 or a Bluetooth gamepad, such as the Gamesir X2

I have one of these. On my phone I put Dolphin GameCube emulator, which runs great. On top of that, if you have gamepass, this will legitimately let you run a big chunk of the library.

Additionally, the steam link app runs pretty great too. I got this instead of a switch/steam deck, as most of my gaming is in the house, and honestly it's been a great alternative.

I have the iPhone version. Works great with my 13 Pro Max. I heard the 14 doesn't fit though because of the bigger camera. I use it mostly to play my PS5 while in bed.

Amazon has the iPhone version for $45 new or there's a 20% AW deal going right now and it brings a used version down to about $29.

Yes and you can buy phone mounts that attach your phone to the controller. There's a ton of them on Amazon and eBay. I personally prefer the kishi for mobile gaming just because it's easier for me to hold when I'm in bed.

I wouldn't say it's niche. It works with any game that supports controllers, doesn't require batteries, is a direct connection instead of Bluetooth, so it doesn't where your phone battery down as much, and is very ergonomic causing less "fatigue" if you game for long periods.

This feels great if it fits your phone. As mentioned, you can remove the rubber inserts to fit larger phones.

The biggest issue for me is that it blocks the headphone jack (on phones that still have one) so you may experience lag/latency depending on which BT headphones you use.

Also, I believe you can only charge via the USB C passthrough port, not connect USB C headphones.

Definitely not a niche product. If you do any serious gaming on your phone, this is actually pretty crucial to have. One thing to note though, if you leave the controller plugged into your phone, it will drain your phone's battery pretty quickly. Good thing is the controller itself has a passthrough USBC port that can charge your phone without having to take the phone out.

I like that I can use the Xbox controller with Android games, PC, and play cloud streaming games on Amazon Fire TV stick. I only play games on my phone maybe like 5% of the time as I like bigger screens.

I did though play Xbox Cloud games, Stadia, and Amazon Luna games quite a bit on my Android tablet.
