Good deal for now. If it was 3080 16GB, I would buy without thinking. 3070 ti is OK, but VRAM can be tight for qhd games. Looking to replace my 1080 ti desktop and a 3080 16GB 165W will do that nicely.

Acer laptops are notorious for screen bleeds, dead pixels etc. If you don't plan to use the screen, then it's a good deal.

Mine arrives tomorrow. I have the $1199 Walmart MSI Katana GF66 (i7-12650H, 105w 3070Ti, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) and $1099 Walmart Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (AMD 5800H, 130W 3070, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) to compare it to.

Which, so far the Legion 5 Pro is the winner. Much better graphics performance and comparable CPU. And it just looks and feels so much better than the GF66.

Struggling to love the Predator. The Lenovo just kicked ass right out of the box, the Predator is taking lots of tweaks to outperform it. And Acer has no good way to verify you have the latest/best drivers or settings.

Now there is a decent gap in benchmarks - except the DDR5 in the Predator performs between the DDR4 in the MSI and Lenovo.

And the Predator is loud and doesn't feel as nice as the Lenovo. The Lenovo feels faster/snappier in normal tasks, the keyboard is nicer, etc. I'm trying to decide if the performance actually justifies keeping the Predator.

I already boxed up the MSI.

Edit: ... and I boxed up the Predator. This final straw was all the DTS/fancy audio stuff causes latency for guitar games and apps, which will see heavy usage. Long Live Lenovo! It also actually works with my 4k TV for HDR and 120Hz which the Predator didn't seem to manage.

Will ***NEVER*** ever buy another laptop from Walmart. 1st Lenovo had grease on it, dirty fingerprints on the case and a damaged blown battery. 2nd Lenovo arrived in such bad condition, even the FedEx guy said he would take it back. The screen was cracked and broken off the hinge of the laptop like someone dropped it from a building.

Called Walmart several times about this..no remorse, no apology, the moron rep said he will make a note of it., Sent both back, will shop elsewhere.

i would have reached out to lenovo too to let them know the condition the laptops were received from walmart.
