Good deal for now. If it was 3080 16GB, I would buy without thinking. 3070 ti is OK, but VRAM can be tight for qhd games. Looking to replace my 1080 ti desktop and a 3080 16GB 165W will do that nicely.

Hi, i'm really torn between this and the Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition
That one has 5980hx and 6800m, the rest of the spec is similar. For the Acer, the 3070 Ti seems a bit more powerful, and the 12700h is a LOT more powerful, at the cost of battery life. Anyone have experience on how bad the fan noise is on this one? That seems to be a major drawback of the Acer helios 300 as well, so I'm really torn between these two. Thanks for any input/feedback on either of those

it's loud AF when turbo mode is turned on. not sure if it's like this for all laptops with powerful vid cards

Thanks for the reply, based on jarrod's youtube review, this one reached 60.5db on extreme and 62.5db on turbo. That does seem crazy loud, so I think I will have to skip this laptop after all =/

What boost loop? Did you update the BIOS? There is a newer version on the Acer support website

The system automatically downloaded and installed the windows update. It asked me to restart the laptop. That's where the boost loop occurred.

I got to try both and I like the Asus ROG Strix AE for sustained (longer) gameplay. This Acer does have more power (and benchmarks better in many cases - especially w/o external monitor), but it seems to get hotter and crashed on me a couple times on default mode where the fans aren't crazy loud. I had to use extreme mode with loud fans for more stability. Might have just been my particular one, but I saw someone else report something similar about the Rog Strix AE (being all AMD) is just more efficient and better for longer periods of gaming. There were some bad apples with it, but mine was extremely solid and stable. So I'd say the Rog Strix AE is more practical while this Acer is more powerful.
