looks like a great deal at 50% off in addition to cashback. Stupid question, does anyone know whether not having a smoke stack will cause wider temperature swings than one with a smoke stack?

There will be when there is no smoke stack, because of the holes in the back. I heard that you can somehow close two of the holes in the back, but that's something you may need to do research on. Temp swings are definitely there when it's very windy, or raining. I purchased it already pre-assembled which was nice. Purchased wood pellets from from bearmountinbbq. Com which has buy one get one free bags. Purchased 4 in total. Excited to try smoking for the first time!
