I'm amazed that these "ambilight" products that use a camera to gauge what colors are on your screen ever caught on. I guess it's easier and (more importantly) cheaper for these to exist rather than a product that acts as a HDMI switch and processes the source from there. All we have as a real alternative is the inadequate and exorbitantly expensive ecosystem of the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box.

From my friends house these were cool. I've been eying them. I've never looked at how expensive the hdmi ones are. I like that this is basically plug and play.

You sort of forget the camera is there after awhile. We have had ours set up for a month now and don't really notice it. The effect is very enjoyable and worth the camera hovering.

I'm going to do mine lower and try to hide it behind a plant or soundbar

Once you get the setup and the settings just right, this thing actually works very good. Yes, it may not be the sync box and it doesn't match every color perfectly.... But for the price they work great. Ours has been on 24/7 for almost 3 years and not 1led has burned out. You also forget the camera is there.

I think the main issue is that with the HDMI config, you can't use any of the built in tv apps. I use pretty much all my viewing from TV apps (Netflix, TV streaming, Disney+, etc. So those HDMI versions were a no go for me
