I've had this monitor for around 3 years now. It was fantastic at the time, and I still love it to this day (it's still my daily driver). I picked it up on a BF deal in 2019 for ~$900.

It would be hard to justify spending this much on a monitor that's been on the market for 3+ years, especially given the improvements seen in the subsequent models (AW3421DW, AW3423DW, AW3423DWF).

You would be buying relatively 'old' tech for a relatively premium price. Yes the new DW23 models are more expensive, but they are QLED. They may still go on sale sometime this holiday season too, so I'm personally waiting to see if that happens.

If you don't mind buying 3 year old technology and/or don't need the latest-and-greatest, it is a fantastic panel nonetheless.

PS edit: I forgot to mention the 38" version also came out after this - the 'AW3821DW'. I'm hoping for a QLED refresh of that soon; expecting the model numbers to be AW3823DW and AW3823DWF.
That one. This ones dp 1.2 and hdmi 1.4, such old tech

Personally if you don't want to wait for the updated oled version to become more affordable than I would definitely get this if I didn't already have the 18 version. I'll hold for now

Hard pass on OLED on PC with burn in issues not quite completely resolved yet.
I have that mentioned Alienware 34 OLED monitor and it's great for games, however for work/productivity the fonts are not sharp and it's not easy on the eyes (too high contrast? And either brightness is too high or to grayish if I'm adjusting it to lower levels). Also Pixel shift is turning on quite often which is annoying. And that thought on the back on my head that I have to turn off taskbar to prevent burn in and also not sure if you guys know that OLED model have active cooling. The fan is running to cool the gsync module. It's not loud, but definitely can be heard. I'm seriously considering returning and getting 38 inch Alienware with IPS panel for peace of mind…

Nothing similar. This one has LG's Nano IPS panel, the Lenovo is VA.

Paid $800 for the AW3418DW monitor back in 2019 (the model prior to this one). One of the best purchases I've ever made. This one boasts an even more accurate color reproduction. Great price.

Yes and VA has better response time and better contrast, also the Lenovo has HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4, to me this feature set make it a better gaming monitor than this Dell.

IPS has better color reproduction, which is good if you are editing photos or videos, but I don't see the point on a gaming monitor.

Not everyone only plays FPS, things like RDR2 appreciate an accurate color rendition, out-of-box accuracy etc. If we are strictly comparing these two, the AW even has better response times. Lower end VA doesn't have many advantages vs a mid/high tier IPS, except may be the contrast ratio.

And they suck terribly in terms of ghosting/smearing (I have that panel before, AOC CU34G2X). Also that panel has terrible VRR ranger, at lower refresh rate it's flickering pretty badly.

Plus I'm not saying which one is better, just trying to point out they aren't similar by nature, pick whatever you prefer.

For me I switched to this AW and been very happy since until recently I got mine AW3423DWF.
