For the real frugal folks this is the way I make a rio meal on a budget, Cafe Rio offers $2 containers of shreeded beef, pork, or chicken(enough for 3 tacos or enchaldias at least Costa Vida charges $4 for a smaller container). You can get 2 for $1 homemade tortillias from them or Kroger sells the fresh uncooked tortillas 12 for $1.19 (takes about 20 seconds to heat each and they are very close to the cafe rio ones), cafe rio sells rice and beans for $1.50 each or the lime cilantro rice a roni (closer in tatse then Zatrans) and can of pinto beans (depending on sales) are .69 to .99 each.
So you can replicate the $10.99 meals tacos or enchaldias (cafe rio will give you a container of enchaldia sauce for .50) for $4.50-$5 if you buy all the items at Cafe rio and asssmble at home or if you just buy the meats and the other items at Kroger for about $2.75.
They also have free coupons for chips and salsa when doing a survery with any puchase to complete the meal.
I started doing this because my family all likes different meats and I didnt have time or want to cook 3 different protiens. I have no issue assembling myself.
