100% Roku is better IMO. Just add a 4K stick. With the roku you can do AirPlay, apps are updated more often, you have tons of channels, etc…
Lg is also running a rebate with Sam's. Select models bought from Sam's get 75$ streaming credit. (Xbox, showtime, sling, and something else)
The 86" size is 120hz native refresh rate. You're confusing the specs with the other sizes which are 60hz. Look directly on the LG site.
Just set this up today. WebOS is pretty bad but I bought a Roku stick on a Cyber Monday deal that will be here next week to fix the issues. Otherwise, great TV with great picture!

The manufacturer pays IP licensing fees for each HDMI port along with the cost of the port itself + cost to install it.
Likely doesn't cost much but they want to keep costs as low as possible on cheap models like this.
They have cheap models to begin with to get you shopping. Once you realize the limitations, you're likely to spend more for a model with more features like additional HDMI ports.
Really? I didn't know that. Knew there was a fee to license Dolby Vision but had not heard about fees for HDMI ports.
It's the same for all the standards. USB included. I believe Apple owns Lighting with Intel but not sure on that. Likely one of many reasons Apple doesn't want to move to USB-C. Imagine that bill.
Ummm, just spitballin' here. But maybe because they are cheap tvs?
