I went to a party where they had the Yukon, and I was impressed. I decided to get the bonfire and the pit is truly amazing. There is no smoke once you get it rolling. I don't think I could ever go back.
Maybe some of the knockoffs have encroached on market share.
Question for the community - are these worth it?
I suppose the fact that SD Mods are shilling on their behalf suggests that this is less a 'deal' than a paid advert, which would then lead to the notion that this deal and the corresponding product are, in fact, shite.

I suppose the fact that SD Mods are shilling on their behalf suggests that this is less a 'deal' than a paid advert, which would then lead to the notion that this deal and the corresponding product are, in fact, shite.
I have a gas one built in that I put in about 8 years ago. I would consider getting rid of that for this it's so nice.
Now, I don't stick around for cleanup or anything, I just get the benefits of usage. But I like it.

I have a bonfire and I like it a lot. I actually got it because I had a tree fall on my property and I didn't want to pay someone to haul it away - it was cheaper to chop it up and burn it myself. Many people 'complain' that the solo stove eats wood really fast, but for me that was a feature

The product itself is top notch, but they require care and feeding. You'll need to cover them to prevent corrosion on the inside. You aren't supposed to put out a fire with water, you're supposed to let it burn out - which, IMO - means you're in for at least a spark screen if not a metal cover (I bought all three, mostly because the Yukon that I bought is a big sucker and with the cover I can use it in a table when it's not on fire). Can't speak to cleaning the new version with the removable ash tray, but the old ones had to be emptied out every couple of fires and with a bigger pit that's a pain.
Don't regret my purchase - it's much easier to light a fire with, much easier to keep a fire burning (raging, actually), and it's mostly smokeless. You do have to use quite a bit of wood to keep it smokeless; if there's not enough combustion you will get smoke, so it's going to cost you more in wood than the conventional fire pit would. I do wish I had been able to get the 2.0 version with the removable tray, but that's a separate argument altogether. If a knockoff had existed when I bought, I probably would have gone that route. All you care about is the general smokeless design and that it's stainless. I've seen Costco selling a knockoff in-store that was under 200 for a large size that would probably fit the bill for a lot less than what I paid.
