I was staunchly against these pits. As a big fire guy, I thought they were essentially a scam. I was wrong.

I went to a party where they had the Yukon, and I was impressed. I decided to get the bonfire and the pit is truly amazing. There is no smoke once you get it rolling. I don't think I could ever go back.

It seems like maybe the shine has worn off on these things, maybe? I keep seeing deals and combos for them, whereas initially it seemed that they were going with the 'it's premium / never discounted' model.

Maybe some of the knockoffs have encroached on market share.

Question for the community - are these worth it?

I suppose the fact that SD Mods are shilling on their behalf suggests that this is less a 'deal' than a paid advert, which would then lead to the notion that this deal and the corresponding product are, in fact, shite.

Best deal on the stands is to buy it as a combo with the stove. Obviously that doesn't help if you already have the stove. I've seen em on FB Marketplace pretty cheap too.

I ended up calling them back because the combo of the pit and stand are $239 and I wanted the stand. They let me pay the difference and are sending out the stand also!

Good call... I think the stand is easily worth the extra $15, and it's a must have accessory if you're using it on a wood deck / grass.

It's basically insurance. No idea why they think they can get away with charging extra for this, but I definitely removed it when I ordered. If it arrives damaged, surely you can file a claim with them or your credit card to get it replaced even if you didn't buy insurance.
