I purchased a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD just short of 3 years back for $130, now they are over $200.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00429N19W
yesterday it started clicking and the display would light up every once in a while.
fast forward to today, i just got home and was on the computer and the ups was clicking once in a while again still.
just a few minutes later there was this cracking/popping noise and i could start to smell burning electronics
i forced a ups power down and started investigating what was plugged into the ups.
there are 3 of the same ups and the one in the middle was acting up
all the plugs and adapters looked okay as i unplugged all of them from the ups.
i clicked the ups back on and it appeared okay, but when i pulled the plug it switched over to battery it made a rattling noise and fried itself with smoke.
i grabbed it and ran out of the house with it!
i opened it up and took the 2 12v batteries out.
its just about 1 week shy of its 3 year warranty end.
is it worth contacting cyberpower and applying for a replacement?
do i have to pay to ship it back - no batteries?
