What makes this a better choice than other similar benches on Walmart that are half the price? Genuine question, as I'm looking for one for my son. Don't really care about the space-saving features.
Fwiw Bowflex is not a leading brand of home gym equipment anymore. Also, a good adjustable bench cannot be bought for under $200–the pad will be soft and unsupportive, big pad gap your butt falls in, and thin steel with small bolts. I can basically guarantee anything under $200 is a beginner product that will need to be replaced if you gain any strength.

Rep Fitness is widely regarded as the king of benches, and Rogue offers a more expensive alternative for made in USA preference. Any other brand is generally an inferior design or inferior quality. I've researched home gym equipment a lot and have owned a home gym for years.

I won't be able to give you a detailed comparison between the two, but bow flex is quiet a well reputed brand and it's quality speaks for its cost. I have owned weider and is probably 90-100$ cheaper but i have owned it since pre pandemic and it's already fallen apart a few times. So I think if quality and durability what you seek this should be a better option.

My Walmart has the Bowflex 5.1s bench on clearance for $150. I bought one a few weeks ago, was shocked to still see the other 3 boxes there a few days ago. Could be just my store or could be more widespread. Worth checking out.

I have used the bowflex and other cheaper ones. The bowflex made me feel much more secure with higher weight. It felt more stable and stiff.

For those who own this, or might know…what is the gap between the two padded seats?

Thank you !!

"Some have indicated that the gap between the back rest and the seat is very wide. There is truth to that; the gap is 4" when the bench is fully flat and 2" at a 45 degree incline and raised seat. At a 90 degree incline, the back meets the seat."

I'm not a huge fan of these bowflex benches, although I don't own this specific one. The decline doesn't work very well, so you might be better off looking at one with more incline options like the Titan V3 ($150) or similar. I find the seat part to get pretty wobbly over time as well. At $175 I think there are quite a few better options.

I have multiple bowflex benches, and my biggest con with these are that the pad is too high off the ground. It makes getting good leverage on bench very uncomfortable.
Also the gap between the ass pad and the back pad is pretty big. Your butt WILL fall into the gap lol
