It's like that with any technology enthusiast and the build of a knife is no different. Like with computers, a lot of people don't need a computer that fast, heck many probably don't even need new stuff but there's always the pursuit of better, some people like to pursue some subsection of things more than others. If there's a scam it's just kind of consumerism in general, though it's up to oneself to keep things in check and this forum is a good resource for product knowledge if I do need to know some specs to make an informed decision. It is possible to draw on the knowledge without getting caught up in the enthusiasm and stick with the chosen budget for any given purchase. I won't lie though I get caught up in the enthusiasm and it's not easy to keep it to the goal in mind with a get in and get out mindset especially online, much easier for me to do that in a B&M store.. Is there a Smeagol emoji?

I just picked up the Para 3 in all black S45vn. Added some knife oil to get over $125 and get the free hat and Kershaw keychain knife. I recently bought a Hogue Deka on smkw. They we're pretty quick getting it shipped out.

Just beware s45 is prone to rusting of you live in a humid area or sweat regularly.

Sounds like we have similar taste. I just got the Para 3 in Maxamet and the Deka in Magnacut. Added some Original GOAT after market scales for the Deka since the FRN is flimsy and slippery. Enjoy your purchases!

I agree about the frn on the Deka feeling flimsy. I'll have to check out those aftermarket scales.
Have you guys that got the Para3 carried the original or 2nd gen? I have a sprint para2 that hasn't left it's box because I've daily carried a Para CPMD2 for ten years and prefer the grips to the Para2.
How is this compared to the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 OD Green G-10 Black S90V sold by DLT Trading for 140? (or130 with the sign up rewards points)
S90v would hold an edge longer than s45vn on the para2s listed here. S90v is difficult to sharpen. S45vn might be marginally more corrosion resistant, but I'm not sure

The Para 3 is similar to a Paramilitary 2. The biggest difference is the Para 3 has a 3inch blade (Some states require blades to be 3inches or shorter). I believe the Paramilitary 2 has a 3.5 inch blade. As for S45vn vs s90v, from what I've heard, they are similar steels. S90v has better edge retention, but is prone to chipping.
SMKW also has a Paramilitary 2 with teal scales in s90v for $137.50
