They are supposed to get hot the case is a heat sink. All metal case USB drives get hot. Better the case gets hot than the internals. Heat is the enemy of electronics. The only reason the cheap plastic case ones don't get hot is the case is an insulator so you do not feel the heat and your internal electronics get fried and shorten the life.

400mb for previous Samsung 256 deal at $25 far better and was shipped free. This barely 100mb transfer speed.

Be careful with these. Not a bad drive but they get extremely hot very quickly.

The samsung FIT plus seems to be better than the Bar models, imo. I use them for OS drives and for integrated Android storage, so random write speed and consistency is everything. The FIT plus models are the best on the market right now, imo... at least value wise. Never had them throw a 'drive too slow' error and never had them overheat or reset for unknown reasons. I think the BAR models are technically faster, but like said when they get hot they can slow down. No problem if youre using it as a portable device, but if you want to run an OS or permanent storage, the FIT model is better.

These seem like they're meant to compete with the Samsung Bar usb drives which I've had really good luck with.

On the other hand compared to the Ultra Luxe I'm more of a Tops guy myself. But let's be real at least it's not Gomorrah.

Samsung drives are faster, I'd recommend Samsung Bar over this for $2 more.

bad thing about this or the samsung is the end is open
so if you have it in your pocket or in a purse then the end is going to get dirty,
filled with lint or something that causes it to fail.

these companies need to find a better solution to offer a real keychain drive but not leave it open to the elements
