If nothing else, I can use the RBC17 battery in my existing UPS unit, as it is the same and the unit is actually cheaper than the battery alone (and I'm not totally comfortable going third party on a compatible battery). Thanks!

The battery is cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/APC-Batter...B0002QLDLC

Item shows $110.91 for me when added to the cart. Perhaps the deal is dead.

That's if you trust Amazon not to provide counterfeits. I don't when it comes to batteries. Next name brand I could find was ~$50 from Interstate Battery near me. Buying the OEM battery direct from APC is $60 last I checked.

I was buying powersonic on ebay/amazon for under $25. APC takes whatever chinese battery of the day and puts their sticker over the original sticker.

Oh, I'm quite sure you're right. But at least if something goes wrong, APC/Schneider is a company that can be held responsible. No name cheap ass battery doesn't have recourse. I mean, all batteries come from the same companies regardless of the label on them. Only so many people make them. But at least there's a paper trail here. That's about the best I can hope for.

And how much will it cost to ship it back? It's a waste of money. If they're a reliable supplier, then you're not going to have a problem as battery tech has been the same for many decades, now.
Buy two if you're that concerned for the same money lol
The ones I bought were twice the size as these, too, so dirt cheap.

My oldest powersonic is over 5 yrs.
