FRAM ULTRA is seen as one of the best oil filters out there. It is on sale right now at Amazon, with extra savings for Subscribe and Save. Only $6.46 each w/ S&S. As always, you can always sign up and then cancel the S&S later once the product has been received.

This is for the XG7317 which I use for my Honda V6s, but it is a pretty popular model and used in lots of Honda/Acura/Nissan/Subaru and other makes.

THERE MAY BE OTHER FRAM ULTRA MODELS ON SALE TOO BUT I'M NOT GOING TO SPEND ALL AFTERNOON CHECKING....so if someone else uses a different model and it's also on sale pls post below.

Dude poor Fram cannot shake its image I guess. This Fram ULTRA is universally seen as one of the best filters out there at any price. Seriously. Check bobistheoilguy.com. The cheapest Fram orange ones were dissed years ago and uninformed people just remember "Fram equal Bad" and so it continues
Yes and you should understand that the OEM blue Honda filters have been shown to be much more "basic" than these Fram Ultras. They are more in line with the cheapest filters that have cardboard endcaps etc. People often assume OEM = BEST and in this case, not true.
Sorry but you are not correct. Wix may be fine but Fram Ultra gets very high praise. And those Wix are going to be more expensive

How often are you guys changing your oil these days? I see it mentions 20K miles and that feels like a lot.

FYI 2014 Honda v6 with 71K miles.

I do the every-other oil change for filter, which is per the Honda owners manual. (Strapping on flame suit for the shade-tree mechanics and other generally anxious people who will tell me that one should always change their oil filter at every change, why not, it's only 7 bucks, bladdity-blah-blah)

So for my Odyssey that is about every 11K miles and for my Accord about every 12-13K as I follow the maintenance minders. 20K may be a lot but certainly I take comfort in that number to run a 2X oil interval with these at 11-13K miles

Oil change interval is dependant on what you put in there
No need to swap out decent filters each time

I would though not trust anything as precious as an oil filter to be sourced from the Amazon supply chain ...go with RockAuto or your local

Hey I have bought these for years from Amazon. The Chinese are not doing counterfeit Fram oil filters for 7 dollars. This is not Airpods and Rolexes it is an oil filter

Great deal. I normally use the Tough Guard, but this is even better than the price for that. Both our vehicles use this size, so I can stock up.

Have used XG7317 oil filter in the past because of the sticky black coating. While removing oil filter this summer, I noticed that the coating had turned to a velvet type texture and the oil filter tool would not stay on the filter. Had to take to local mechanic for removal and to complete the oil change. Replaced the Fram with a Mobil 1.
First time I have ever experienced this issue.

Vehicle: 2004 Honda CRV
Filter: XG7317
Age of filter at time of removal: 6-7 months

This used to be really really good filter, then they got rid of the metal mesh backing, then someone indicated their efficiency rating are different as well (originally they were 99% @20 micron) I don't know current efficiency rating. please shed some light......

This could be the best oil filter ever made in Earth's history. But guess what? If you are under warranty, and have engine problems, and take it in to your Stealership, they could deny coverage because of non OEM. Good luck!
