I don't understand why Home Depot doesn't shut down this "hack". People have been doing it for years and it doesn't benefit the company at all.
Ah yes, selling inventory doesn't benefit a company. I bet you think they're selling under cost or something.

If you do in-store pickup, and want to avoid the return hassle, you can just place the order, then chat with HD's CSR to cancel the one item.

Pretty good. Batteries were in stock, drill set for ship to store.
Just picked up the batts and had the drill canceled via app by the time I got to my car.

Ive done a different similar hack before. All I did was picked up the item I wanted and not pick up the other item at the other store. I think around 10 days, they canceled the item I didnt pick up and refunded me the difference. But you would still get the deal though. The annoying part is the home depot store will call you to remind you to pick it up a few times within those 10 days.

Thanks OP. Tried to get in on the original deal, but was going to have to ship everything to one store and then go through returning it. Now I can ship to store the drill and do the split pickup with autocancel.
