I threw the washable filter away! It was so disgusting to wash it every month. More dust, vs replacing a carbon filter every 3 months.

It is super easy to just take your sweeper hose to it once a week and suck up the dust. I do the same to the carbon filter if any dust or hair gets on it. I've only used water on mine a few times, the sweeper gets it perfectly clean if you don't let it go forever.

To others - do not throw this away! IMO

Edit: also, nice find on the 5300-2 for $101 - I did the same thing! And forgot about my unused Citi points 40% off (max $30) so ended up only about $75 total. I have this same unit in white, I prefer it to the newer design at Costco bc of the handle placement and height.

Costco verison occassionally has the white one on sale from time to time for $99.99 in-store. https://www.costco.com/winix-true...62892.html

No clue why you would do this. You can simply vacuum it off in 10 seconds. Never had to actually "wash" mine. It massively extends the life of the other filters as well. I will never buy an air purifier that doesn't have a first stage like this again.

The Costco version is a lot smaller in size. This one is comparable to the older version Costco used to sell for $100 the C535

Are these air purifiers worth it? It never crossed my mind that a house would need one. We just got a puppy, would it help to reduce pet odors?
