Well darn… literally just bought a $40 replacement motor for this drill off Amazon. Could have had a brand new one plus some crummy 1.5 ah batteries for a little more than double that

Pros have used non brushless for years and years, i have a ridgid non brushless combo set that is great.

However, i'd get ryobi brushless over dewalt non brushless for the same money but that is just me.

If I was going to go lower end I'd go with Ryobi not this. If you go with Dewalt to it right and go with their brushless models. This isn't worth it.

For the price, it's amazing.
I have this and had it for more than 5 years, it powered through everything, still looks new, got wet and I thought it's going to die, didn't. Went through dusty and nasty conditions. Still works.
The one I got was $125 for set of two, it was a bundle with impact drill + regular drill and came with 2 batteries, bag and charger.
Don't waste money on brushless if all you do is drill few holes to install stuff or build ikea cabinets or just occasionally use drills, if you are professional, then get the best you can. The bits are more important than the drills. You can have the best drill but if you use crap bits, you waste time and money.

Edit, I should correct that mine are not even 20v, they are 18V versions.

We also have ryobis from Home Depot, this is perfect size compact, ryobis we have (also bundle) have a lot of play, feels unbalanced on hand like it's not an extension of your hand. You want the tool to feel like extension of your hand/arm, Dewalt kinda perfected it as these are compact sizes not huge, and batteries are not heavy either.
