Opposite experience for me with the Samsung Smart Tags. Packed them in luggage/backpack while traveling to SF and they pinged the entire trip, regardless of how near/far I was from them. Pinged all day long in my hotel room from various Galaxy users passing by. Also tracked them on all flights, which let me know my checked bags boarded with me. Highly recommend them.

January 19th, 2021 - Samsung releases Galaxy SmartTag [samsung.com]

April 30th, 2021 - Apple launches AirTag [apple.com]

Who's copying whom?

The only issue I've had with these is when they are close to dying, I've never seen it go into the low battery phase. It just stops tracking no notification or anything. Instead, it shows the last location of when it was on as if that's its current location.

I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying these Samsung smarttags as gifts for Samsung phone owners even though I already have iPhones and airtags.
They are good but not as good or reliable as airtags from what I have heard. If these were smarttag+, which I also happen to own, then it'd be different since smarttag+ is better in terms of giving the location at least according to a popular YouTube video comparing these 2 and tile. But if you read reviews it seems samsung seem to have some quality control issues.

Samsung tags only work for folks with certain Samsung phones, who use the Samsung App. IF your friends change phones to another Android phone, like google or Motorola the Samsung tags are useless. People with Android phones often change the phone manufacturer, unlike Apple phone users who stay with the same manufacturer (Apple).

how are you getting those prices? I tried adding four to my cart too and am seeing $27.74 each
Might have to do it on a Galaxy phone. I got the discount with an It's Your Lucky Day popup when adding to cart on the phone. I clicked on the pack of 4 first in case it matters (it didn't switch to it). Didn't work on desktop for me. I didn't have to get 4 either and EDU savings stacked. Plus there is 15% CB available on Mobile Accessories - got down to $16.64 each less CB on 2.

Curious why it says batteries not included but the same bought drom.samsung and others always come with batteries.

I have used these and they are not full proof but they do work with my Samsung s22 and s10. Samsung actually sent me two free when I bought my s10 direct from Samsung years ago.

Think I will bite. It is a return til 1/31/23..

They call it bundle discount. Try to log in and see if it shows. Add 2 or more.
I just tried it now and it still shows the discount.
thank you for this tip.

In cart at Samsung.com, $16.64 for smarttag and $23.99 for smarttag+. That's also with Samsung friends and fam discounts. Higher price on the product page itself.

Love my smart tag plus (this one is NOT)
looking for deals on that one please

Put one everywhere and uwb with s22 ultra is a game changer. It will tell you how many feet away you are if you're close and which direction via the camera app

Samsung had these first before Apple. It's Apple who copied Samsung.

totally agree. very bad design imo. no warning of any kind, when I need to track the item I placed them on, 3 out of the 4 shows tracking from over two months prior.
I switched to airtags and couldn't be happier. the user base with airtags are like so more than Samsung.

this. I wish they would open source the app vs apple like behavior..
If they did, Apple would be "inspired by" the code.

I had the 'Tile' things and the technology is identical. They were entirely worthless, as these will be, because they only find your thing if your thing is in line of sight so the bt signal is found, and if the devices are in line of sight, you'd just see the thing anyway. Battery goes dead, you won't know, then the tracker device is absolutely useless. Don't bother, these don't work, the tech is not a sound means of finding lost things.
The tile helped me to find my cat's collar with the tag multiple times, so it paid for itself. But I had to walk around the neighborhood trying to get signal and then trying to hear the chirring sound (difficult with cicadas around). Once I found it quite a long distance from my home - somebody walked nearby with the tile app, the week after the loss. I'd prefer to have a GPS tag with a cellular connection, but at the time there were only dog versions.

Can you recharge these or replace batteries? If not, how long do they usually last? I had tile before, how do they compare?
