Basically, a USB mic is like an XLR mic connected to a built-in audio interface. There are times when you want a mic but without using the built-in interface, which you can't do through USB.

It's like a USB mic is a laptop and an XLR mic is like a computer monitor. (You can't use a laptop's screen on another computer.)

You can get a basic 48v phantom power supply. I had a cheap one off Amazon for $20 that worked just fine, and then you can use voicemeeter banana software or OBS to make adjustments for the input. There are extensive guides on reddit YouTube and other sites for these programs
