Don't buy blendtec. The jars only last a year, on average, and are expensive to replace.

I have used my blendtec classic for 2,5 years, commercially, in my restaurant/bar to make margaritas, and its just fine.
I particularly like them because the blades arent sharp. so, even my daughter can wash it! (vitamix blades are very sharp, until they are not, and you have to replace them, or sharpen them).
That said, I may go with vitamix this time around because I want the food processor addon, and blendtec doesn't seem to have an equivalent. though for $200, this is an amazing pro-lvl smoothie nut butter blender.
and don't worry, its often 200. just keep checking.

I had a Blendtec Classic with a Wildside jar literally exploded on me while making a regular smoothie. Maybe I added too much frozen stuff. I don't remember.

Whatever the case is, there are tons of reports of Blendtec jars breaking and in my case, exploding on me, with fragments flying around me. Not to sound dramatic, but with that amount of horsepower, had a shard flown in my direction, I would've ended up in the hospital or in the morgue. Buyer beware.

So based on this, I cannot recommend a Blendtec in good conscious no matter how good the price is. As far as I know, Vitamix doesn't have this problem. So I'll just buy their stuff for the rest of my life. I know it's more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
