FYI, the main differences from the Essential version is that you give up the microphone input on this one (Essential has one, this one doesn't) but in trade, you get the 2 wireless mics with a built in receiver and a bigger battery so JBL rated playback time goes from 6 to 10hrs.

To add to that, the lights are also upgraded and the mic controls are located on the top with the Encore. You can still do TWS with one Encore and one Encore Essential. Normally two different second gen. model speakers will only play together in wireless party mode.
