It's decent, but if you already have a 5.1 or 7.1 system, better off just buying additional ceiling speakers, rather than replacing everything.
Note that this doesn't include a receiver or subwoofer. Even though the mains are rated down to 38hz at -3dB, you really want a subwoofer for movie effects.
Pretty great price, and pretty good units. I assume the price drop is due to there being newer versions of each? This seems like a great way to get into an Atmos setup if you have the right receiver.
What reciever would be good for using the front firing atmos
Denon S760H or Onkyo TX-NR6050. Both great value receivers at Costco. I just upgraded to the Onkyo and love it so far. Above that you start spending a lot more.
My AVR (Pioneer VSX-1131) doesn't drive my JBL L100T's worth a crap, I may check more into these speakers, is it me or are these AVR's no match for the older two channel amps?
I've been using the highest-end Bose soundbar with the Bose Bass Module 500[bose.com] for a few years, mostly because I didn't want my living room to look too messy. But as time went on, I kept adding more products to the TV area, including a TV console (my TV is mounted onto the wall and I tried pretty hard to not have a console... lol). I'm starting to look into home theater systems, and this one seems to be one of the most promising deals from this Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Plus it's kind of a gimmick.
True ATMOS is accomplished with ceiling speakers.
Example: 5.1 experienced with a sound bar Vs a L/R C SL/SR + Sub set up.
AGAIN ! to each his own !!
