I've been using this chair for a little over two years, and I'm a fan. It's very adjustable, appropriately firm for my taste, and has a good medium level of lumbar support, though the lumbar support isn't moveable.

There's always a lot of talk in these threads about how expensive these chairs are, and they are indeed. If you're very lucky you can get great deals on barely used ones, but this fits into the old adage about spending on things that go between you and the ground (along with mattresses and tires). I hate how much I spent on it, but my backside and back are much happier with it than the garbage office store chairs I've had before that are already worn out in two years.

This is $16 more than the sale price I paid then, which seems like a good deal, although I got the hard-floor casters, which have been really easy on my wood floor without a chair mat. Unfortunately the version with those doesn't appear to be on sale. You can get them separately, but they're pricey that way.
Leap is a much lighter chair. When you lean back, it doesn't come to a "stop". Gesture is a more substantial chair - compare to HM Embody. My preference is Gesture and I am willing to pay the price difference. Used Leaps can be found quite easily for ~$250. Not dogging on Leap, but would recommend Gesture if price is not a limiting factor

Is it possible to add a headrest or lumbar support to this chair after market?

Pretty sure you cannot. The headrest is not removable and there are no holes to add it. Compared to Office Depot chairs, this one is very heavy for those that might want to return it. One of the best features of this chair is the armrests.

I have this chair in the leather version - definitely not worth the money - has very little actual back support, but is extremely modular. Would be good for drafters, artists, etc.

If it had headrest, I'd buy it. I love embody, but sorely want a headrest!

I have this chair only because work offered to buy me any chair so I bought the most expensive one I could find! I've had it for a year so I can't speak to longevity yet, though it looks like it will hold up much better than the $99 chairs I was buying from Sam's club each year.

Everything is adjustable, which is really nice - armrests adjust horizontally and vertically, seat bottom, seat height, back, etc, etc. So very customizable based on ergo needs. It weighs about 1000 pounds and I can't figure out for the life of me why...must have a lead core or something. The back rest started squeaking after a couple of months - I called support and they said to spray some lubricant in there. With that expert advice it now squeaks slightly less. Smilie

Overall a nice chair - I wouldn't personally pay this much for it though.

Your comment caught my eye--what is it you prefer about the Gesture? I have been debating Leap vs Gesture for awhile now (been interested in the Leap based on the rave reviews on lumbar/lower thoracic support).

Good deal but personally I am going to pass.

1. Comes with carpet casters. Hard floor casters will run another $100.
2. I prefer Era fabric to Cogent fabric. Personal preference in terms of style and feel.

The two items I mention above are not currently available at a slick deals price so I don't have any links to post. Just offering my perspective to help you make an informed decision. This is a very good chair at a good price. Typically these run $600+ used in very good condition.

Thanks for finding OP! Repped
