I have this and the base is all but useless. It's so light that extending the camera a bit from the base makes the whole thing tip over. I had to always stick a rechargeable battery pack on it to keep it from falling and even that wasn't easy because the arm leaves little room for anything to rest on the base.

Might be a good deal if you want to use the desk clamp but if you intend to use the base then look elsewhere.

Thanks iconian. I'll also adapt this for a hobby magnifying glass.

Is there a reason this can't be used for a microphone?

You can but the screw in nut is sized for cameras whereas most microphones use a larger M screw

In for 1 for intended purpose. Tempted to buy more for different proposes (hold phone up, vacuum for gas extraction in solder station, magnifying glass, etc). Anyone know how much weight this will hold?

Thanks, OP! In for two. This is easy to adapt for use with other things like a microphone — there are plenty of adapters available for a few cents or easy to 3D print.

[Final update: I got this crane arm and installed it today. The screw head on the arm actually screws directly into the Blue Yeti Nano microphone, so the adapters I bought aren't necessary.]

[Update: never mind, found one, and only $7.99 along with a 5% off coupon. This has a female end for screwing onto the tripod's 1/4" screw head, then a male 3/8" screw to go into the Yeti Nano. That should do it. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08R7WD4HG ]

Hmm, I Googled what the thread size is for a Blue Yeti Nano, and it showed 1/4", but then found the specs on bluemic.com, and it shows 3/8". Only adapter I can find is 3/8" to 5/8". Anyone found a way to convert from 3/8" to 1/4"? Didn't see anything like that on Amazon from a quick glance...

For the price it is good. Just know in time you need to tighten it or your camera will not stay in the same position. Can be used for mics, but needs two hands to position.

Might be a good deal if you want to use the desk clamp but if you intend to use the base then look elsewhere.

this thing is designed to hold nothing much larger than a go pro, what kind of camera did you stick on here?

If I'm using the desk clamp, is it strong enough to hold a mirrorless cam? It's only showing small webcams and doesnt list a load weight.
