1. Searching for more than 1 ticket NO LONGER displays $1 fare
2. And reality: there is no ride for less than $4.99, even if $1 is displayed
Service charge for any transaction is $3.99. One can't ride Megabus anywhere for $1, period. It's $5, and arguably should be advertized that way!!

2) the fare is $1. There is a service charge, like with almost everything sold anywhere.
3) are you seriously complaining about $5 bus tickets for rides that are usually hundreds of miles?!? Seriously?

No airline adds their check-in charges or their luggage charges into their advertised fares either.
In the end, you ARE , in fact, complaining about a $5 ticket for a journey that's hundreds of miles. That's utterly ludicrous. Show us any competitor charging anywhere even close to that rate.
But, hey, while you keep complaining, I'll book that last $1/$5 seat! They tend to go pretty fast!
Well, I would. but they haven't actually made the trips after January 10th available online yet.....

Airline lets you pay $39 it advertizes for you to fly (which includes taxes/fees), and it's likely you're able to book multiple tix. Megabus headlines $1 ride (which doesn't even exist for 1, let alone for more people). Deceptive on more than one level. On every level

Ludicrously entitled people like you are why so many companies don't bother with promotions like this any more. You won't be happy until they stop these promotions entirely, preventing the rest of us from benefiting from them.
They've been running this promotion for over a decade now. If there were anything illegal or deceptive about it, you can be sure that the millions of entitled jerks out there would have found lawyers to sue the crap out of them.
Meanwhile, thousands of us have taken advantage of this ridiculously slick deal, and will continue to do so, no matter how much a handful of people on a site known for its ridiculously complaining users like to ridiculously complain about it.
Enjoy your rage. I'll enjoy my $1 seat for the ludicrously cheap price $5.

So all in all, the deal has deteriorated. Collecting pre-payment far out, company no longer subsidizes this annual deal. And deceptive headline of a non-existing $1 ride does bring traffic. I wasn't even thinking of class action, but you brought it up yourself
Does your airline have a Bozo the clown on the side of every plane?
Headline should read: Megabus NO $1 seats available

Exactly when did you "let" them do anything?!? They're a business. They set the rates. You either accept them or don't.
As to your ludicrous expectation of being able to book as many people as you want for basically no money, just because you want something doesn't actually make you entitled to it. Anyone with a mental capacity over 5 years old understands this.
Good luck on this ludicrous concept of a lawsuit. I'm sure no one else has ever even thought of it in the decade they've been running this promotion. If you could even find a lawyer willing to take your ludicrous case, you'd end up being fined for filing a frivolous lawsuit.
Have fun on all those other transportation companies that don't take payment when you book your ticket. Can you give us some examples of some?
Interesting that you know exactly how low the booking fees were a decade ago, which means that you've been watching this deal for that long , surely long enough to know that they've NEVER offered more than one seat on any bus for $1 - yet you're STILL bitter enough about it to whine and troll incessantly on a deal site where no one else gives a flying fig.

This is a classic marketing case: first few years were loss-leading, to foster Megabus following. This year, the program continues under entirely inferior particulars YET CAPITALIZING ON PAST REPUTATION. Which, unfortunately, is gone!
