I bought this and did not like it but could not return it for " health and safety reasons " - Customer support offered a full refund without the return as a one time courtesy. The issue is how hard it is to pull the trigger. I watched a video that explained that it's better if you hold it at the very top with a firm grip… and yes it is better but not worth over something easier. I offered it to my dad (a pyromaniac) and he didn't want it either. Probably will donate or give to a friend.

Reviews seem to confirm your experience. Hmmm...I was gonna try it out for $15, but I'm thinking I'll save myself the time. Thanks!

They are never clear on what can be returned because of toxic materials. I had ordered a bearing and Shaft set for my washer. Couldn't return it because the thread lubricant included is a fire hazard. Finally got my money back but will watch what I buy because of that experience. Their customer service is god awful. Used to be really good.

Totally agree with this assessment. I bit at the last deal on this figuring bad reviews were just user error. This is more of a pain than it is worth and there are cheaper options that probably work better.

I bought this Zippo butane lighter on the last SD post where it hit Front Page at this exact price. I did see the Amazon comments about being hard to work due to the safety mechanism, and I see some similar comments in this thread - but, I honestly love that little lighter. At this price point, it's a excellent deal in my op.

I was just playing around with the lighter before I wrote this comment. Here's the trick... just take the base inside of the bottom of your right thumb (if right handed) and press hard against the safety lock at back of lighter. At that point, just a quick and hard pull of the front trigger with your trigger finger lights it up almost every time on the first click.

Helpful tip for those who have it. However, a torch shouldn't need any instructions to use ! I'll wait for the final $2 crappy design dump that's clearly inevitable Wink

Well, let me just say that in my personal experience, the knocks against this being too hard to use are overblown. My response with the best way to use this thing is less of a necessary instruction and more of a simple tip. Trust me, if you had one, you'd figure out how to use it very quickly.

The above said, this is a real torch... not a play thing. That safety button on the back should prevent a child, with weaker and smaller hands and fingers from burning their face off. So, the safety mechanism that Zippo engineered here, that is being derided, is really a very good thing. Also, once the butane lighter is lit... you do NOT have to continually press on that back safety button (it's just there for initial lighting).

Finally, if you also bought a Yankee Candle from one of those other FP SD deals, there's no cooler way to light a candle...
