I do not see the option to upgrade for "practically free." I see $99.99 for one year or $9.99 per month. Am I missing something, or is the option gone?

About to pull trigger on this. From what I can see in the other thread, there should be some way to upgrade from a single subscription to a family plan for $10. Have never signed up for O365 subscription so not clear with the process.

Correct. Upgrade to Family from Personal is $10.
Stack 5 years of personal, pay $10, and you have 5 years of family.

Not hard, one only needs to read the very first "Featured Comment" to see the procedure.

I really wish this wasn't limited one per customers. I have to buy 5 different packages.
It's entirely possible I'm misunderstandng here, but isn't that exactly what the trick above to get the family plan for little extra is supposed to address?

He wants 5 years, but he can only buy a year per transaction
It looks like I can buy five in one transaction, but as long as they are all different packages. Which means I am left with at least four useless pieces of software.
NewEgg will allow you to purchase any given package only once (for a given billing address) during the promotion. It doesn't matter whether it is the same transaction or not. If you want the same combo (e.g. MS 365 + NordVPN), you will have to wait until the next time the promotion comes along. Based on past history, this will be 1.5 to 2 months from now.
I used different email accounts, but was still rejected for buying more than 1 of the same bundle. Maybe they are using the credit card billing address screen? I did use different credit cards for different newegg accounts though.
If anyone has made it work this time around I'm interested to know how it was done.
Thanks!
