Been this price at Lowe's for at least the past week, all thru their BF and CM sales time-frames. Ok price, but nothing to write home about.

I guess they were selling a different product under this link 2 years ago and got reviews for the black oxide set back then, not for the black&gold. Don't want to say anything negative about it, and this new set may be even better, but this is malpractice. Just beware.

Still kind of expensive. Last year Lowes had a set of four of these boxes, 100-pieces in all, with star bits, screw bits and a set of these drill bits for $14.99.

Both correct. Project Farm did a drill bit showdown and ranked the DeWalt DWA1184 the best. The bits in the video were black oxide, but shortly after that DeWalt changed them to Black and Gold and kept the same model number.

FYI the black oxides are still available on this listing, but only if you choose the 16 or 17 pc set.

I'm sure DeWalt would give you 100 reasons why the new style is superior, but I'd pay the extra for originals that proved their durability.

These are good drill bits, just used them to drill out a broken axle bolt on my old Ford. Always have nice sharp bits and some cutting fluid on hand when you have a tough metal drilling assignment.

Dewalt has long since sold Black Oxide sets, and Black+Gold sets under the same exact model number for some inexplicable reason (both the 14 and 21pc sets).
You go far enough back on different websites reviews, people expected black but got gold and complained, some expected gold but got black. Its been a point of contention before the Project Farm video came out, different sites promised one or the other, and sent out both.

I have several sets of each, I always bought whatever happened to be on the lowes shelf.
They perform about the same, but the Gold bits are ground and finished noticeably better.
I will say it seems like they finally axed the black oxides and its almost all black and gold now. They really need to stick to one or the other.
