Best Buy[bestbuy.com] and Amazon[amazon.com] have the Bose 700 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones on sale. - Silver Luxe is OOS at Amazon, NLA at Best Buy
I have tried both and felt that sound quality is mostly same but bass was better in 700. Although Both 700 and 45 have inferior bass compared to Sony XMs. I felt that 700s are also bit heavier on head than 45 because of the headband design but they are comfortable. allows better ANC controls over QC 45 that time, not sure if it has changed with latest firmware
For comfort I felt QC 35 still wins over both. If Bose had just put 700 hardware and software in QC35 case that would be perfect for me.
I had both and ended up giving the Bose's to my girlfriend. IMO, XM5's noise cancellation is much butter and the sound quality is very similar between the two. I also found the xm5's to be a bit more comfortable.
I only have the XM3 to base it off, but I compared it to the 700 at the time.
Comfort: Bose 700. Dust filters are spacious and angled. They prevent your ear from touching the fabric as much.
Sound Quality pre-equalizer: Bose 700.
Sound Quality post-equalizer: XM3. Tuning the sound with Sony's app is a must. Afterwards, it sounds a lot better than the 700. The soundstage is vibrant and lively, especially in orchestral pieces. Really makes it feel like a live performance. Tuning down the bass was also a must because it's over-powered and muddy. 700 was still a nice full, low bodied sound but it sounds more like your songs are in a recording studio. I tried Bose's equalizer to bring back a lively quality to rival Sony, but I could never get it there.
Overall, I really did like the 700, but ultimately, had too sharp sibilants on some of the instruments being played in my songs. Also please note, I am a V shaped sound signature person. Funny I should say this after having to turn down the bass on the Sony's.
