I browsed for it on the Microsoft site with the Cap One Shopping extension enabled, and I received an email later for $150 of the $500 price. (I was looking at the bundle, but only the console added.) Add paying with paypal/CF to save another $25 (or the amex offer if you've got it).

Yes you can. On the top of the controller there is a small button that lets you sync with the Xbox. If you want to avoid the wireless syncing, I recommend plugging the 2nd controller into the Xbox. After the initial wired connection, they will be synced.

I have not seen any deals on the series X, but here is one at MSRP at Walmart. [walmart.com] Sold and shipped by Walmart.

For what it's worth, I was able to save a bit more. I got 5% back ($2) for doing Store Pikcup at Gamestop. And then paid using PayPal with Chase Freedom (Classic) card, which get 5% back on paypal this quarter, so after tax another $2; so $4 off total from the 39.99 price with pickup at GameStop.
