I just bought 6 of these at $15. They are very bright and it is nice to have them turn on walking into the shop. I can't say how long they will last, but they work good for me.

Won't survive a child stepping on it, but it should be fine hanging on a ceiling where it should be in the first place.

I have a fully equipped functional garage attached to the house. These are not for lighting your garage. This would be ok in a child's play house, or as a lamp over a desk area.. but not much else. Keep your expectations low on this "deal" because it's not actually a deal, nor is it very good quality. A high percentage of these units arrive broken or not working properly. More plastic garbage made in china.
I don't think they're that bad, but yeah, they're also not great. Costco and Sam's Club both have 4 foot led shoplights on sale for $15 pretty regularly. If someone just needs one or two of these for now I'd say go for it, but if you're making plans to light up your whole garage with a bunch of these, I'd really suggest waiting for something better.

Can these be hardwired? Or am I better off putting an outlet where the existing fluorescent is now?
With these sort of lights IMO you're much better off putting an outlet there. LED fixtures like this have a long life expectancy, but eventually they will go bad, and when they do you replace the entire fixture. It's best to install them in a way that makes possible future replacement as quick and easy as possible.

It should work without hanging it, I could mounted vertically against wall? What parts could give it A CA proposition 65 warning?Or does Walmart in particular just put the warning on everything, or is it because they often sell more cheaply made products that are more likely to have toxic elements?
Is that prop 65 question serious?

Literally everything is prop 65. All plastic ever, if anything with any plastic doesn't have a prop 65 warning on it its breaking california's dumbass laws - because gas is prop 65 and ding ding ding plastic is a petroleum product.

Reading the reviews, a few people say only 1 light comes with the pull cord. FYI just incase someone definitely needs it for both like myself. I cannot guarantee those reviews are correct though Wink

Point of reference: you can find those style (deformable) lights on Amazon for significantly cheaper. The last set i bought were $5/ each

The deformable lights are great for the fact that they will just screw into a standard socket. They're better as spotlights for fiddly up- close work

The shop lights in this listing are better for large-area coverage of an adequate but diffuse light. The linkable quality is especially nice if you have a larger area you want to be able to light entirely using a single switch

They both have good arguments in their favor for their specific best-usage cases
Any particular listing you would suggest "watching" for a price like that? Wink

To flush mount it, shouldn't the screw holes on the back of it be 16" apart on center?

Maybe I missed some, but I only saw one review that said one of the pull cords was missing and it seemed to be from one that was damaged. There was one more that said they ordered two 2-packs but only received two single packs, but that sounds like a different issue. But if others did run into the same problem, I suspect it was likely an occasional packing oversight rather than intentional.

Yeah, I scrolled a bit and saw 3 mentioning it but there are a lot! of reviews. Just debating if it's worth saving $1.50 and taking that chance or not Wink

If you're going to use them in ceiling fixtures, this style (https://a.co/d/gzQhSRD) is consistently the cheapest in a per-piece basis. The settings for the fins/petals are not strong enough to hold them into position if you use them in a lamp/ floor mounted fixture though, and they droop downward quickly. $5-6 each is a pretty commonly available deal. There's a 2- pack of the mini version here (https://a.co/d/goThE1s) for $7 total after you clip the 30% coupon if you just wanna check them out

The phrase "deformable light" or "deformable garage light" will return the best results on a per-piece basis, and you can set up a deal alert through Amazon to let you know when similar items have coupons/discounts

This listing (https://a.co/d/0QUEhEA) is a pretty every day price for a style that holds its adjustment angle better, at $10/ light

Sorry, I can't suggest any particular item or seller. I just did a quick scroll through for the best deal with good reviews for my last couple purchases, and the listings have since changed to different products
