I'm not seeing the 12 second preview on these cams. I have a card inserted and can go back and review but cannot view events like on the v2 cams. Anything I need to do different or is this the way it will work without sub.?

It will work during the day, but the IR lights at night will shine on the window glass and blind the camera.

You can buy a $4 accessory that prevents the IR issue but then it actually sticks to the window to prevent light bleed. You can also just turn off the IR and as long as it is not pitch black the V3 will pick up some stuff through a window. During daytime it will work great.

As others above said, works great during the day. I have 3 of these pointing out of my house through windows. You definitely do need to turn off the IR lights in the app, so there does need be some external light source outside, even a weak one.
One additional consideration, if you don't mount the face flat against the glass, you can also get reflections at night from inside the house. For example, if I turn on the light in one of the bedrooms, the blinds in that window, which the camera sit behind, illuminate and there is a reflection of the blinds in the glass which obstructs a portion of the camera's field of view. The more you have it angled, the worse it will be.

If you don't need the IR light, no issues. My patio light provides better lighting than the IR. you can also get the mount kits mentioned in other replies for fairly cheap, but I believe the camera has to be flush against the window without allowing any angled viewing (others can clarify that part)

Yes it not only works with Echo Shows of all sizes - it even works with FireTV sticks! So you can display the camera on your TV. We do both and it is one reason we have FireTV sticks on all our TVs as well as ROKUs. “Alexa, Show me the front door camera”
