My view: Your boys are going to fight over the ONE gun they both want. Neither of them will want the little gun. The big gun's barrel and scope are gimmicks.
It's nice this Costco set includes 50 darts, and 3 guns. But I ended up with the 2 Target guns you mentioned for my 7yo and 11yo, and I'm sticking with those for the reasons above.

After thinking for awhile, I ended up buying 2 sets of this. It's $26 vs $16 for what I got at Target, but....the kids will each get 3 guns instead of 1, and 50 darts each. Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier when I responded to you, I only compared the options of buying 2 Target guns vs 1 package of this. If you're willing to shell out an extra $10, it would alleviate the negatives of the original option I mentioned.

I don't know anything about Nerf guns so wanted to check - is this deal better than the one at Target which had this Nerf gun (https://www.target.com/p/nerf-eli...A-84796053) @ $7 or so.
Suggestions pls. I am looking at these as gifts for 8-9yr old boys

Same. I feel this Costco deal is very good. 3 blasters, 50 darts. For $3 more than target deal.
Target one is 1 blaster 10 darts.

i am full grown adult and buying for myself and SO to fight and then donate them once we get bored of them
