Key Features:
  • Dimensions: 43" x 10.5" x 19"
  • Redesigned Tractrix Horn utilizes a circular horn throat paired to a square horn mouth to further improve high-frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. The compressed molded rubber construction adds high frequency damping to minimize distortion and improve detail. This creates the cleanest, most natural sound possible.
  • A Linear Travel Suspension maximizes dynamics for enhanced, detailed performance. LTS Tweeters have been a hallmark of previous Reference lines, as well as their flagship Klipsch Palladium series, making it a core component of some of the best speakers in the world.
  • Spun Copper Cerametallic Woofers represent the pinnacle of Klipsch driver design, maintaining exceptional rigidity and lightweight construction, for minimal cone breakup and distortion. When paired with the Tractrix Horn-loaded LTS tweeter, it provides speaker efficiency highest in its class.
  • Utilizing Tractrix geometry, the Reference Premiere ports allows for the most efficient, fastest air transfer from the cabinet - for the cleanest, most powerful low frequency response on the market.
  • MDF Cabinet With Real Wood Veneer Finish
  • Strong, Flexible, Removable Grille attaches magnetically for an elegant transition from powerful showstopper to discrete performance piece.

Does these 2 need 4 channels total from the receiver?
Yes if you use the upper atmos speakers

Yes and TBH you're better off getting the 8000f's.
These built in modules are hit and miss on performance.

Once you build a good 5.1 you can always add the SA's later which are more versatile.

Using them as height Atmos are better option than as modules IMO
I do have the 8000fs and they are super awesome especially for the movies…I am shopping for my brother who is about to close on his very first house this month end.

I don't need these, but want to get them to compare against my R-625FA.

Disagree. The internals of the 8000s are identical, except for a slightly less bright tweeter which is actually a downgrade for home theater (but may sound smoother for music depending on who you ask. My FA-280s sound amazing for both theater & music)

Sorry I meant the 8060FA-II is an upgrade, which currently is $3k a pair though obviously will get the Klipsch discount treatment at some point..
The version 1, regular 8060FA is not really any sort of upgrade. It has slightly different tweeter but reuses the crossover from the 280FA which was designed for the speaker to be at a slant as the 280FA was on a slanted base. This throws the design off a bit. The cabinet of the 280FA is larger and tuned differently as well. Not a big deal but it makes me think(not know for sure) the 280FA would actually measure better and be more useful in a large space. (while the new version might work better in a medium space, bass frequency wise due to how they are tuned)
Exactly

I have literally been looking at these and other Klipsch RP floorstanding speakers over the last few days trying to make a decision. This is a great deal. Thanks, OP!

A lot of negative comments about the finish. What's so bad about walnut? It really depends on your home decor. They sell the same basic colors for a reason. I'm going for more of a farmhouse look, and I've been waiting for a sale on these for months to match my other speakers. Thanks OP! Really appreciated!

Correct it does depend on who you ask.
Having heard both(more than I care for) your impression is why for me the 8000's are a better choice, they are less bright with a smoother sound.

Your description makes me want to buy these more. I like the traditional Klipsch bright & lively sounding speakers and seriously considering upgrading my 8 year old R-26F for these. At this price it makes it enticing but wondering if it's worth the upgrade.

When I first got them I was living in a small apartment and now I am in a bigger home. They still do sound very well but I've always found them a little underwhelming for music and even more so now in a larger living room. However, for movies, along with two 10" Klipsch subwoofers, 404C center, 2 rears and 2 overhead back Atmos speakers, they hold their own. Anyone thinks upgrading to these 280FA is worth it, especially at this price? I know for looks it will be an upgrade as I was thinking before I even saw these that the R-26Fs were looking a little lost against our new 85" TV, but I don't want to upgrade for looks alone, sound is way more important to me.

Well you have to keep in mind by no means am I saying the 8000 are no longer Klipsch's "bright & lively" sound!
There are still one of the brightest sound, the difference is minor.

I would say the difference is greater going from Reference to Reference Premier in that aspect.

I would say if you like the bright & lively sound of your Premier's I would say stick to them, you will be downgrading going to these based on your opinion.
Another plus is they are less expensive also.

My home theater setup is klipsch RP series - 2*RP280FA, RP504C, 2*RP502S, 2*RP600 as rear, and 2*HSU VTF15 subs. I am very happy with the quality of these speakers. They are very good for HT, and does a fairly good job for 2 channel music as well. Of course it comes down to individual preferences but I don't think anything comes close at this price.

Regarding the color concern - I bought the 280FA from Adorama a few years back when the Cherry wood ones were on sale for $900 and considered it a steal! It took a couple of hours on a weekend to transform these into a set of black speakers to match the remaining ones. The Vivid black wood grain vinyl is what I used as it was the closest in grain pattern compared to the other klipsch speakers I had. https://a.co/d/3bwGL9w. I am glad I applied these as the speakers ended up looking great in black.

Thanks for the tip. If I buy these speakers I'll definitely consider doing this as the rest of my Klipsch setup are black as well. How much of this vinyl did you end up using to cover the speakers?
