A few years ago I would have commented on this post recommending that everyone spend more money on a name brand toaster oven to get something that will operate better and last longer. However, in the last three years we have gone through two name brand high end toaster ovens (Brevelle, Cuisinart) and they both broke. Both manufacturers go out of their way to make them unrepairable. It's a shame.

My mentality is now to buy the cheapest thing that works and expect it to fail. it's unfortunate the world we live in. It's sad that I can't even repair them when they do fail.

The brand names are losing traction quickly, there isn't some secret brand name factory in china, they are all coming from China, they are using the same sourced parts. The brand names have better offices and a bigger marketing budget, that's the difference.

That said, we bought a ninja during covid and its been great... rarely fire up the big oven, its fast and uses less energy. There are tons of non ninja options at a lower cost, go for it.

Looks similar to our analog Cuisinart. It works well but the spring on timer is messed up. Got warrantied a new one that haven't opened yet. New one looks same except digital instead of analog.

This. We've been using our Breville for about five years. Three of those years have been served keeping the oven working through sheer determination and sorcery.

Planned obsolescence--certainly one of capitalism's less desirable traits.

Sorry to hear about your experiences, however you're a single data point. My breville oven is still going strong for the past 6 years. Friends and family also bought the same model and none has malfunctioned yet. Quality is definitely a step above the lower and mid tier brands.

Finally got one. Been kicking around the idea of an air fryer purchase for a while now. This one checks all the boxes. Thanks OP and repped.
