Sounds great when it works, but don't expect to get it fix if it breaks within a year. TCL customer support is the worst.

For 30 dollars more, you can get the 3.1.2 with the center channel at Walmart.

I finally set up this soundbar today. It was a Royal PITA, my advice is to reset any & all sound adjustments on your TV to factory defaults, then hook the soundbar to the TV via HDMI eARC. The sound is clearly superior to the Roku StreamBar I was using; midrange is nice & clear, the Sub provides too much bass for my taste. Great if you're gaming, I guess.
Don't know if I'll keep this unit or not, more testing tomorrow.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the 3.1.2 TCL Soundbar but why not update the software?

I compared the soundbar -to my- stereo system, both fed signal from TCL TV. The (much more expensive) old-school system is clearly superior.
This toy soundbar goes back to BestBuy.

The Wal-Mart 3.1.2 is $168 now. Why not update the software?
