Make sure you purchase just the headphones and not the "fantastic" AppleCare + bundle. These are still $200 on Amazon (Costco as well for those that have one nearby and want extra warranty and return policy from Costco).

Somehow the bundle on Amazon with AppleCare + is $278 which is hilarious because AppleCare + is the next recommended item right below the headphones, for the regular $29.

I haven't heard of that specific issue on these airpods but rather just the Max as you stated. I bought a pair of these Airpod Pros 2 to replace my older gen1 Airpods and they were terrible. Lots of crackling and just bad audio. A quick Google search showed loads of complaints of the same issue. I dropped them back in the box and returned them to Costco. I didn't notice any difference in shape or fit from the gen1 either so I'm totally unmotivated to try the gen2's again at any point. I'll likely wait a couple more years with my gen1's before updating again.

Main issue is losing these which applecare doesnt cover. Out of 100,000,000 one may be defective so yeah Ill skip the apple care!

Target will price match to $200...Target currently running 10% off promo to buy Target giftcards. So assuming you buy Target gift card with current 10% off promo and then using that would give you this for about $180 ish...also Chase has additional 5% cash back with PayPal this quarter as well as Discover has 5% back with Apple pay or digital wallet so if you buy the Target gift card with one of this option you would get this potentially $170 ish ...

Maybe it was just the Max.

The pro2s are my first airpods as an android person and I'm really enjoying them. They also haven't been updated since they haven't connected to the mothership via an iphone.
